Summary
Born at Pottsville, PA, a great-grandnephew of John Hancock. Deafened at age 3 from a fall and subsequent fever; attended the Ohio and Indiana Schools for the deaf, graduating the latter in 1850. Entered printing and published various charts and newspapers. Married Pauline M. Marsh in 1866.
