Summary
Deaf at 3 1/2 following brain fever; left a school for the deaf at Edgbaston, aged 15, to apprentice in the brass-chasing business. Finding local services to the deaf nonexistent, he initiated the Birmingham Town Mission's special branch to the deaf, which in 1906 was succeeded by the Brimingham and Midland Adult Deaf and Dumb Association, with himself as missioner. Retired in 1917 after 50 years' service; died at Birmingham.
