Summary
Grew up in Chicago; mildly hard of hearing through childhood, then worsening in college to considering himself deaf at age 25. Science writer for educational videotapes, the World book encyclopedia, then (1996- ) for the Microsoft Encarta electronic encyclopedia. Co-founder in 1987 of the Association of Late-Deafened Adults (ALDA). Became a member of the Gallaudet University Board of Trustees in 1991.
