Has held several education positions, including assistant professor in the Gallaudet University Department of Communication, 1988-1993; in 1993, was appointed superintendent of the Central North Carolina School for the Deaf, then became superintendent of the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf. To Gallaudet University as dean of Pre-College National Mission Programs (KDES and MSSD) in 1997 (renamed the Laurent Clerc Deaf Education Center in 2000).
