              Summary
              Grew up in Pembroke, NC; attended the Normal Indian School in Pembroke, then at age 10 transferred to Prospect Indian School for a year. Trasnferred again to the Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf, leaving in her junior year (1974) to attend Gallaudet College, graudating 1978. Earned a master's in 1986 also from Gallaudet; worked in various schools, including the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center. Married Claude Stout, also deaf, in 1980. Also active in local (non-deaf) politics in Germantown, MD, where she lived. Took continuing education courses in public policy at George Washington University; aspired to a doctorate in political science some day.
