Copeland, Ethelene Sadie Ellen MacEachern

Deaf at 4 years of age from spinal meningitis; attended a 1-room country school through grade 10. Took grades 11-12 and first-year college courses at Prince of Wales College, Charlottetown, PE 1959-1962. Graduated Gallaudet College; also studied part-time at George Washington University School of Cytotechnology. Medical technologist training at School of Medical Technology, Franklin County Hospital, in MA 1966-1967. Married hard-of-hearing Barry L. Copeland in 1967. After 13 years off to raise a family, she worked as a medical technologist for a Baltimore, MD company.
