Summary
Progressively deafened, beginning with a yellow fever infection in 1896. Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University; taught at Amherst and Olivet Colleges before joining the staff of the Museum of Comparative Zoology. Wrote hundreds of publications on birds, insects, reptiles, and amphibians; awarded the Clarke Memorial Medal for service to Australian science.
