Summary
Born at Burns, WI; deaf at 6 from spinal fever. Public schools until age 14, when he went to the Wisconsin School for the Deaf for 4 years, then 4 years at Gallaudet College, graduating (B.A.) in 1895. In 1900, became a teacher at the Louisiana School for the Deaf, then in 1901 joined a partnership that founded an engraving company in La Crosse, WI.
