Summary
Born at Mexia, TX; attended the Texas School for the Deaf, graduated Gallaudet College in 1920, the Corcoran School of Art (Washington DC), the New York School of Fine Arts, and earned Masters of Fine Arts at Louisiana State University (1938). 1920-1925, taught at the New Jersey School for the Deaf; then studied in Europe for a while before returning to the New Jersey School until 1929. Moved to Arizona and pursued art there, particularly with American Indian themes; again traveled in Europe 1933-1934. Worked and exhibited in New York, then in 1936 in Mexico and from 1938 rural Lousiana and Mississippi; as of 1939, taught art at the Louisiana State School for the Deaf; died at Austin, TX.
