Summary
Born at Yonkers, NY, of English parents; deaf at 11 from scarlet fever. Went to the New York Institution for the Instruction of the Deaf until graduation in 1892. Went to work for various printing companies, then took a temporary appointment in the New Jersey School for the Deaf, moving from there to the printing office of the New York Institution for the Deaf and Dumb in NYC. Also contributed articles to various deaf newspapers. About 1894, married Martha Hasty, but lost her to death three years later.
