Summary
Born deaf near Paris, ON; Ontario Institution for the Deaf and Dumb 1886-1894, New York School for the Deaf (Fanwood) for 2 years, then became one of the first two female deaf Canadians to graduate from Gallaudet College (1903). Taught for a while at the Oregon School for Deaf Mutes beginning in 1904, then married Joseph Reginald Cook, also deaf. Taught at the Manitoba School for the Deaf until World War II forced it to shut down in 1940, then at a miscellaney of temporary locations throughout the war. Dissatisfied with this, she then moved to and taught at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf 1945 until retirement in 1951. The cafeteria-dining room in the Deaf Centre Manitoba is named in her honor.
