Summary
Hearing son of deaf parents. Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado; starred in many silent motion pictures, including the first film version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame; died at Los Angeles. Called the "Man of a Thousand Faces" for his great aptitude at makeup and disguises. His great acting ability was attributed to his having to communicate through gestures with his deaf parents while growing up.
