Summary
Hearing. An early teacher of the deaf, who taught a deaf relative (Fraulein von Meding) to write, then later a more general basic education. He used her homemade gesture language as a start at communication, then tried the teaching methods of Konrad Amman and Georg Rapheln before settling upon those of John Wallis. He described his own method in a book, Ausfuhrliche Nachricht von der Geschehenen Unterweisung der Taub und Stumm Geborenen Fraulein von Meding (1775).
