Dobbie, Wendy Kathleen Bruce

One of a pair of fraternal twins; deafness from rebella discovered at age 11 months. Mainstreamed beginning at age 2 1/2 until age 12, when she went to a hearing Toronto boarding school for 3 years. Graduated Lisgar Collegiate Institute in 1984, where a meeting with a Deaf girl led to her discovery and embracement of the Deaf culture. Studied 3 years at Queen's University in Kingston, ON before marrying Christopher Dobbie in 1988. Worked at various jobs, including clerical positions and teaching ASL at community colleges.
