Turk, Frank Robert, sr.

Born at Hibbing, MN; deafened at age 4 by spinal meningitis; graduated Minnesota School for the Deaf (1947); B.A. (1952) from Gallaudet College, M.A. (1969) from University of Maryland, Ed.D. (1983) from American University. Teacher at Kendall School and Gallaudet College; Dean of Men in Gallaudet's preparatory program and faculty member, 1965-1971; Youth Relations Director in Gallaudet Alumni/Public Relations Office, 1971-1980; various Gallaudet deanships 1985-1989. National director of Junior NAD, 1966-1980. Superintendent of South Dakota School for the Deaf 1989-1991, then director of North Carolina Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing 1991- .
