First deaf teacher to win both state and national National Science Foundation's Presidential Awards for Excellence (1990). Science teacher in a North Carolina high school for the deaf and then at the Kendall Demonstration Elementary School. In 2001, moved to Gallaudet University as a faculty member in the Education Department.
