Summary
Born at Cottle's Island, NL; deaf at age 1 from illness and attended the Mackay Centre for the Deaf for only 1959-1960 before being withdrawn. After 5 years at home, she took basic life skills and job training at Hoyle's Home in St. John's, NL, then worked in food service at the Newfoundland School for the Deaf 1965-1969, one year at E.C. Drury School for the Deaf, than back to the Newfoundland School 1970-retirement 2000. Younger sister was Joy Elsie Philpott (q.v.).
