Summary
Born deaf and attended the Royal School for Deaf Children at Margate and entered the printing career, building up his own printing business that eventually expanded into several shops. Active in his local community, he was elected Mayor of Wembley in 1954, first and only known born-deaf person to be elected a town mayor in Britain. Was also appointed to the prestigious honorary post of High Sheriff of London, 1973-1974, the only deaf person ever appointed to that post.
