Summary
Born at Taunton, Somerset and deaf at age 5 from severe illness. Education unknown; he may have attended the Royal West of England School for the Deaf, Exeter, as a private plupil. He is known to have attended a college in Taunton for a time. Studied art in South Kensington, London and started painting professionally. Many of his works were reproduced in contemporary popular magazines such as Punch, The Illustrated London News, and Graphic Magazine. He was also noted for satirical drawings, especially those of politicians. Died suddently after a short illness.
