Summary
Born very prematurely (2 lbs.) at Rochester, MN; deaf either at birth or in infancy. Mixed ancestry, including part Cherokee. At first did not attend school because of her deafness; then her parents learned of the Minnesota State School for the Deaf, which she attended beginning at age 9 (1905) until forced to leave ag age 16 to return home and work to help support her impoverished family. Married Olaf Lundby, also deaf, in 1918, and bore 5 daughters and one son, all hearing.
