Summary
Born deaf at Boksburg, South Africa; St. Vincent School for the Deaf in Johannesburg, 1963-1976, then her family emigrated to Canada. She then graduated the Alberta School for the Deaf in 1979 and from Gallaudet College in 1985. Winner of the 1982-1984 Miss Deaf Canada pageant. Married Roland Hermann, deaf, in 1985. Counselor for the University of Alberta while continuing studies at the University of Alberta. Moved to Switzerland, Roland's native country, in 1991; she worked there as a lecturer in the Hochschule fur Heilpadagogik in Zurich; also coordinated interpreter and sign language teacher training programs for Swiss German Sign Language while teaching English as a second language in junior and senior high schools.
