Summary
Born in Virginia; deaf at 4 from a severe cold. Attended a district school for 2 years until failing hearing forced her out, then was orphaned. Entered the Kentucky School for the deaf, graduating 1893. Took a post-graduate course for a year, then appointed a teacher in the Kentucky School from about 1894 on.
