Deaf at birth in Regina, SK; mainstreamed into Regina and Edmonton public schools before entering the Alberta School for the Deaf in 1965, graduating 1971. Worked at the Alberta School as a dormitory child-care assistant and ASL teacher. Took continuing education courses, and from 1995 onward worked various tasks at the headquarters of the Canadian Cultural Society of the Deaf. Married and later divorced a hearing man.
