Summary
Born deaf; winner of the 1953 Italian bantamweight title, the 1955 European bantamweight title, and then the World bantamweight title. After losing a disputed match the following year (in which malfunctioning lights burned him on the shoulder, but the umpires allowed their ruling to stand nonetheless), he retired from boxing and became a businessman in Florence.
