Asian American. Born to Korean parents at Manteca, CA; deaf at 10 from spinal meningitis. Attended the California School for the Deaf, Berkeley 1929-1934, then graduated Gallaudet College in 1939; master's from California State University at Northridge, 1966. Taught 2 years at the Maryland School for the Blind, 13 years at Arroyo Elementary School in Simi Valley, CA, then over 8 years at Pierce College and Technical School, Los Angeles, before retirement. After retirement, continued to be very active in volunteer work; co-founder of the California Home for Aged Deaf; received many awards for her service. Married Bob Skinner.
