Gyatso, Thupten [mother of]

Swedish explorer Sven Hedin (hearing) reported that the mother (name not recorded) of the then-Dalai Lama (Grand Lama) of Tibet was deaf, and met her during an interview with the Dalai Lama. During the interview, the mother (the only woman present) was given a place of honor close to her exalted son, Thupten Gyatso.
