Summary
Studied at the University of Alaska before transferring to and graduating Gallaudet University. Returned to Alaska and worked for the state government doing preconstruction studies of proposed highway and airport sites. Became a professional writer, his only published novel was Islay (1986), though he had completed manuscripts for two more books in an Islay trilogy. Moved to Florida; president of the Florida Association of the Deaf and helped prevent the possible closing of the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind. Recovered frofm alcoholism and spent his last 10 years helping other deaf alcoholics in the Tampa Bay area. Died of cancer at Tarpon Springs, FL; buried in Culloden, CA.
