Summary
Raised in Pennsylvania; graduate of the Model Secondary School for the Deaf. Has performed with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, the National Dance Institute, and various theatrical groups. Attended New York University; executive director of the American Dance Theatre of the Deaf, 1993- . Performed in a TV commercial for corn flakes in the mid-1990s; first deaf actor to appear in the New York Shakespeare Festival; in 1999, performed as Cordelia in "King Lear" at the Folger Shakespeare Theater in Washington, DC, the only deaf actor in the cast. Became a playwright, her first play, The Dark Room, being produced in 2004.
