Born deaf at Ellicott City, MD; graduated Gallaudet College; M.S. (1992) in computer science from Johns Hopkins University. Worked several years as a computer programmer for an insurance company, then in May 1993, founded Clark Internet Services (Clark.Net), a very successful Internet Service Provider located in a converted barn on his father's farm. He headed the rapidly-growing company until it was bought out by Verio in 1997. After a short time as a Verio vice-president, in 1999 Clark turned his energies into setting up an Internet-based online paintball supply store.
