Summary
Born in Sussexvale, NB and deaf at 9 months from meningitis. Educated at the Halifax Institution for the Deaf and Dumb 1878-1882 and the Fredericton [NB] Institution for the Education of the Deaf and Dumb 1882-1889. Worked as assistant postmaster of Sussex, NB 1889-1901. Instrumental in the founding of the New Brunswick Deaf-Mute Association (now the Eastern Canada Association of the Deaf). Took business courses through a correspondence school for about a year; around 1906 or 1907, became a theological student at Mt. Allison College, Sackville, NB. Almost nothing is known of his life after 1907 until he died of myocarditis in St. John, NB.
