Holtz, Johan Gerhard

Born at Kalmar; became deaf at age 2. Attended the boarding school of Per Aron Borg (q.v.) starting at age 6, but had to leave the following year due to poor health. Returned to the school in 1815 and stayed 3 more years. Began teaching in another Borg school, eventually rising to second-in-charge, winning a number of national honors before retirement in 1871.
