Summary
Born at Verdun, QC and deaf at 2 from whooping cough. Mackay School for the Deaf age 8 until graduation 1934, then became a weaver for Henry Morgan Stores until 1940, when she became an assistant teacher of weaving at the Mackay School until 1967. She continued working there as a dormitory counsellor until retirement in 1979. Deaf spouse, married in 1942, was James Wilson Shand. Annie and James in 1957 became the first Canadian deaf couple to adopt a deaf child, Heather Anne Saunders-Roth (q.v.).
