Chmiel, Maryann Patricia

Deaf at age 6 months; Ontario School for the Deaf 1959-1966 and E.C. Drury School for the Deaf, graduating the latter. Gallaudet University for 4 years, but could not complete her studies due to her commitments to the Canadian Theatre of the Deaf, which was founded in 1976 and she was its first female performer. Also competed in the 1976 Miss Deaf Canada pageant. As of 2002, was employed as a counselor at the E.C. Drury School.
