Summary
Born in Baltimore County, MD; deafened at 14 months by bronchial pneumonia. Attended the Maryland School for the deaf 1881-1891, then got employment as a printer in Frederick and then Hampstead, MD, before returning to school 1892-1893. Became foreman of the printing shop at the Maryland School upon graduation. Also taught gymnastics in the Frederick YMCA. Married Minnie English, another MSD graduate and teacher, in 1901.
