Summary
Born at Morristown, PA; deaf from scarlet fever at 2. Went to the old Pennsylvania Institution for the deaf in Philadelphia, 1874-1879, then Gallaudet College 1879- 1884 (B.A.). Attended a Philadelphia business college, then became a clerk in a New York insurance company. In 1886, resigned to become boys' supervisor at the Western Pennsylvania Institution for the deaf; became a teacher there in 1891. After the school was destroyed by fire, was boys' supervisor again until returning to teaching when the school's new buildings opened in Sept. 1902. Active in state organizations of the deaf. Married Lily Annabel Bicksler Delong in 1902. Ordained as an Episcopal deacon in 1910 and as a priest in 1912. Died of a heart attack.
