Buckler, Krystal Joy Peck

Born hard of hearing at Halifax, NS, from maternal rubella; also had blindness in one eye, asthma, and mild cerebral palsy. Mainstreamed in public schools through grade 9, then left school to study data entry at Atlantic Technological Vocational Centre, graduating that program in 1986. She later took adult continuing education courses to upgrade her education to 10th grade level. After miscellaneous minor jobs, became an entrepreneur, operating Buckler's Maritime Deaf Connection, a mail-order company specializing in deaf-related gifts and other items, contracting with Nova Scotian craftspersons to produce items for her to sell. Married to Gary Matthew Buckler, also hard of hearing.
