              Born at Vancouver, B.C.; graduated Jericho Hill School for the Deaf and then Gallaudet College (B.A., 1975). M.A. in counseling psychology from the University of British Columbia. Educational counselor at the Alberta School for the Deaf, lecturer at the University of Alberta, and part-time psychologist practice. In 1988, became principal of the Alberta School, the first deaf person in Canada to reach that high an academic position.
