Summary
Born at Fredericton, NB; deafness not discovered until age 2. Ontario School for the Deaf 1 year, then the Interprovincial School for the Deaf 11 years until graduation; additional training at the Atlantic Technological Vocational Centre. Worked as a data entry operator on a contractural basis for various different employers. Took time off 1982-1990 to raise a family, then wanted to return to work but was unable to find permanent work for 9 years. In 1999, decided on a major career change to becoming a personal care worker for older people. Completed the required training in 2001 and went to work for a home-care agency in Halifax, serving deaf and hard of hearing clients.
