Hochman, Frank Peter

First born-deaf American to become a physician. Born in New York City; attended P.S. 47, then Stuyvesant H.S.; B.S. (1958) from City College of New York; chemist with Food and Drugs Laboratory of the City of New York, Supervisor of its Narcotics Detection Unit, technologist or biochemist at various hospitals, then entered Rutgers Medical School in 1972 at the age of 37, receiving M.D. in 1976. Practiced in San Francisco Bay area. Founder of the Society of Hearing Impaired Physicians (SHIP).
