Gariepy, Joseph William Gerard Serge

Native of Montreal; attended various parochial and private schools for the hearing in Montreal, then the Institution Catholique des Sourds-Muets 1960-1968. Learned English at the Mackay Center for Deaf Children, Montreal 1969-1970 before entering Gallaudet College, graduating with a B.A. in 1976. Taught briefly at the Institution Catholique before returning to school (M.Ed., Western Maryland College, 1978). Taught at the Alabama, Kansas, Kendall, and South Carolina Schools for the deaf, the latter from 1989 onward. In 1976, married Suzanne Denise Pifer.
