Stowell, Charles W.

Born at Broadtown, Long Island, NY; deaf at 2 1/2 from scarlet fever. New York Institution for the deaf (Fanwood), 1870 to graduation in 1883; appointed supervisor of boys at this school, but poor health and the death of his parents forced him to resign. Several years of country life restored his health, and about 1890 he went to work at one of the Silver Lake Ice Company's plants, being in charge of that office. Also a successful and prize-winning breeder of poultry.
