Summary
Born at Valley Falls, KS; deaf at age 4 from scarlet fever, which nearly killed her. Kansas School for the Deaf, 1892-1904, then Gallaudet College 1905-1910. Taught at the South Dakota School for the Deaf 1910-1912, then married Harry Gardner, another Gallaudet graduate. They moved to his homestead in Canada, where she raised a family and tutored an uneducated neighborhood deaf girl. Her health failed in 1931 and she died after a time in a private care facility.
