Healey, George Frederick

Born at Gateacre, Liverpool; deafened at 3 months by brain fever caused by a fall. At age 8, went to the school for the deaf at Rugby; after terminating school there, continued to have some private tuition. Apprenticed to his father's coach-building business, rising within that firm until his father's retirement in 1890. Active in local deaf church activities, including getting the Liverpool Church for the Deaf to put up its own new building, and in the British Deaf and Dumb Association. Died of a stroke.
