Summary
Born deaf at Saint-Thomas de Joliette, Quebec; privately tutored by a Catholic nun beginning 1852. Entered the Congregation of the Daughters of Charity, Sisters of the Poor in 1860, taking her vows in 1862 under the name Sister Come de la Providence; Canada's second deaf nun. Moved to the new Institution Catholique des Sourdes-Muettes in Montreal in 1864 and spent the rest of her life there living and working in the Institution in a variety of positions. Fractured a hip in 1930, which confined her to bed until she died in 1933.
