Wyand, E. Clayton

Born near Keedysville, MD; deaf at 17 from meningitis. 1 year at the Maryland School for the Deaf to learn journalism and printing, then learned of Gallaudet College and graduated there (B.A., 1902). While at Gallaudet, also took art courses at the Corcoran Art School. After graduation, went to work at the Maryland School as a teacher.
