Summary
Attended the Kansas School for the Deaf, where he received baseball training from Luther Hayden "Dummy" Taylor (q.v.). Began his baseball career at.age 17 as a catcher and infielder for the Joplin [MO] Miners team in the Missouri Valley League. Moved to the Wichita, KS semipro team as an infielder. Elected to the Kansas Old Time Baseball Hall of Fame in 1942 and to the American Athletic Association of the Deaf Hall of Fame in 1955.
