Summary
Born deaf at North Bay, ON; given up for adoption soon after birth and adopted by a hearing couple, the Bumsteads. Attended the Ontario School for the Deaf for 14 years, then settled in Toronto where she got a job with Bell Canada and met and married David Elliott, also deaf, in 1964. Two of their four hearing children died in separate tragedies. She was active in local deaf events and organizations.
