Bates, Robert L.

Deafened at age 7 due to scarlet fever; graduated from the Indiana School for the Deaf and Gallaudet; additional studies at American University and Evansville (IN) College. Worked at the Navy's Bureau of Aeronautics, Bureau of Naval Weapons, the Naval Academy, and NAVCOSSACT (a Navy Field Activity, Washington Navy Yard), designing programs for missile guidance analysis, atomic shock effects, and guidance systems. Died of cancer.
