              Summary
              Born in Lemelereveld, The Netherlands; deafened from spinal meningitis in 1929 while her family was emigrating to Canada. Attended Edmonton public schools at first, but at age 11 went to the Manitoba School for the Deaf and then the Saskatchewan School for the Deaf, but had to leave at age 18 to work on the family farm. Later worked for a garment factory as a seamstress. Married Blair Conrad, also deaf, in 1948; they farmed in Sangudo, AB for 28 years until retirement in 1978 to Salmon Arm, BC, where she died; buried in Sangudo.
