              Borns in Queens County, New Brunswick, and deaf from scarlet fever at age 2 1/2. Attended the school for the deaf in Halifax, Nova Scotia, until his family moved to Massachusetts; he then entered the American School for the deaf, graduating 1892. Became a designer for the Towle Manufacturing Co. of Newburyport, MA, a famous maker of silverware and tableware. Designed and privately marketed a commemorative silver spoon in honor of Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet.
